Dunsfold Surgery

The Chiddingfold Surgery (with its branch Surgery in Dunsfold) covers one hundred square miles serving 4,500 patients in Chiddingfold, Dunsfold, Northchapel, Ebernoe, Grayswood, Alfold, Loxwood, Kirdford, Plaistow and Hambledon.

The Chiddingfold Surgery Appeal Group was launched in 1999 as a community project to provide our Doctors with additional specialist medical equipment. The Group provided a 24 hour blood pressure measurement and ECG equipment, lifesaving defibrillator machines and many useful smaller items. Many residents have benefited from these facilities, which allow the Doctors to undertake diagnostic and investigative work locally without the inconvenience of patients travelling, parking and waiting at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford.

In 2009, a Tenth Anniversary Appeal was launched to raise at least £30,000 to replace the then ageing equipment.

In 2010, the charity was renamed The Friends of Chiddingfold Surgery (FCS) since this better described its current function.

In March 2011, the £30,000 target was reached thanks to the generous support of the community.

The Friends are continuing to raise funds to cover insurance and maintenance of the medical equipment that we have provided. They are also continuing to consider, in the light of the current re-structuring of the NHS, the possibility of further tangible assistance that they might provide for the Doctors to enhance the diagnostic and remedial treatment that can be given locally at the Surgeries.

The watchword of the Friends of Chiddingfold Surgery is “Let’s give our Doctors the tools to do the job”.
