About Chiddingfold Surgery
Chiddingfold Surgery (with its branch Surgery in Dunsfold, shown on the right) covers one hundred square miles serving 4,500 patients in Chiddingfold, Dunsfold, Northchapel, Ebernoe, Grayswood, Alfold, Loxwood, Kirdford, Plaistow and Hambledon.
About the Friends
The Chiddingfold Surgery Appeal Group was launched in 1999 as a community project to provide our doctors with additional specialist medical equipment. In 2010, the charity was renamed The Friends of Chiddingfold Surgery (FCS) since this better described its current function.
In 2009, a Tenth Anniversary Appeal was launched to raise at least £30,000 to replace the then ageing equipment. In March 2011, this target was reached thanks to the generous support of the community.
Purchases by the Friends
The Group, and subsequently the Friends, have provided equipment that has benefitted patients directly. In particular, we have provided equipment that allows the doctors to undertake diagnostic and investigative work locally without the inconvenience of travelling, parking and waiting at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. Examples include portable blood pressure and ECG monitors as well as oximeters to measure the oxygen in the blood and a spirometer to measure lung function.

Continuing the work
The Friends are continuing to raise funds to cover insurance and to keep the equipment we have provided properly calibrated and in good repair. The Friends are also continuing to provide the doctors with equipment to enhance the diagnostic and remedial treatment that can be given locally at the Surgeries.
The watchword of the Friends of Chiddingfold Surgery is “Let’s give our doctors the tools to do the job”.
